HALIFAX - The Halifax Mooseheads now know who they will face in the second round of the QMJHL playoffs.

It took three first round upsets but Halifax will play the Charlottetown Islanders in the second round, opening at home at Scotiabank Centre Friday at 7 p.m.

The Islanders took the Quebec Remparts to seven games in their first-round series, clinching the series Tuesday night with an 8-3 win.

The Herd, meanwhile, knocked off Baie-Comeau in five games and have been waiting to find out their next opponent since last Friday.

"We're fotunate enough to be on to the second round," said Moosheads' head coach Jim Midgley. "We had a real good practice on Tuesday, the guys were sharp, and hopefully that continues on."

The two teams are no strangers to one another, meeting nine times in the regular season with Halifax holding a 7-1-1 record.

"It helps us with the little time we do have," said Midgley. "It's a team we're familiar with. There's still a lot of preparation that has to go into it, but we're excited to know who we're playing."

Tickets for the second round go on sale Wednesday at 11 a.m. and will be available at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office, select Superstores,, the Official Mooseheads Shop in Scotia Square or by calling (902)-451-1221.
