Mooseheads dominate in 8-2 win over Islanders

Raphael Lavoie scored a hat-trick to lead the Herd to victory

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The Halifax Mooseheads picked up an impressive 8-2 win over the Charlottetown Islanders Thursday night at the Eastlink Centre.

The Mooseheads were dominant in the opening period with Samuel Asselin scoring twice while Jordan Maher netted one on a power play. Halifax gave up one goal to Hunter Drew to make it 3-1 after 20 minutes.

A goal from Antoine Morand and two from Raphael Lavoie kept the Mooseheads in control during the second period. Charlottetown's Drew Johnston managed to sneak one by Alex Gravel to close out the second period.

BO Groulx extended Halifax's lead early in the third with Lavoie getting the hat-trick to seal the deal.

On Friday, the Herd makes their way to Bathurst to take on the Titan.
