Man wanted on province-wide arrest warrant

Police say Shontez Oshay Dechamp is wanted on a number of charges including mischief, theft of a motor vehicle and property damage among others.

HALIFAX - Regional police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a 24-year-old man in connection to an incident that happened last month in Clayton Park.

On the morning of May 12, police witnessed a vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign on Bayview Road. The officer then attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the vehicle fled the scene.

Police eventually located it, discovering it had collided with a house on Clayton Park Drive. No one was injured in the home.

A K-9 team attempted to find the driver, who fled the scene on foot, but was unsuccessful in doing so.

Police say Shontez Oshay Dechamp faces a number of charges including mischief, theft of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police officer, property damage and breach of probation.

Anyone who sees Dechamp or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call Halifax Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
