Halifax police say their investigation into a 16-year-old girl's death two years ago has led to drug charges against a local man.
Police issued a statement Tuesday saying the girl was apparently in medical distress when officers were called to a residence on Macara Street on Feb. 21, 2016.
She died at the scene, but investigators do not suspect foul play. No other details were released about the girl or how she died.
Police say their ongoing investigation led to the arrest Monday of a 21-year-old man, who was later charged with drug trafficking.
However, Const. Carol McIsaac says the accused was not involved in the girl's death.
Walter John Mitchell of Halifax was arrested without incident at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in the Halifax area.
