Man charged with fraud after deposited cheque determined to be fake

Halifax Regional Police have charged a man with fraud after they say he tried to deposit over $90,000 into his bank account.

Police allege the man tried to deposit a cheque at the Royal Bank near the Sunnyside Mall in Bedford on December 24, 2016.

They say the cheque was later determined to be fraudulent.

Paul Edward Beasant, 49, of Halifax has been charged with fraud over $5,000 and uttering a forged document.

He's expected in court on January 23rd.
