Kejimkujik National Park Seaside will stay closed until further notice.
Parks Canada shut down the popular South Shore hiking spot over the Canada Day long weekend due to increased black bear activity in the St. Catherine's area, and now says that safety measure will remain in place.
It said the black bear population at the park is healthy and the situation is not unusual.
Officials believe the bears will start to move away from the shoreline when there's more food in the woods.
"By reducing the potential of bear-human encounters through the guidelines and closures, Parks Canada is encouraging natural black bear behaviour and reducing the likelihood of risky behaviour which can happen when bears become habituated to humans," it said in a news release.
