Regular listeners of Jack 92.9 will notice something a little different Friday.
In honour of International Women’s Day, the radio station will be calling itself Jill 92.9 for the day.
Program director Earle Mader said, all day long, those who tune in can expect to hear songs by female artists and groups, or songs about women.
Afternoon drive host Nicolle Bellefontaine said the goal is to celebrate women and she's thrilled with the one day tweak to the format.
"I'm ready to rock my femaleness and have it celebrated in this way," she told HalifaxToday.ca. "I'm excited to be celebrating women in music and women in general."
She said when she started in radio, it was rare to have a woman hosting an afternoon show, but the industry has come a long way since then.
Now Bellefontaine is looking forward to cranking up artists like Stevie Nicks and Madonna during her 4 p.m to 7 p.m. shift.
"It's going to be a bit of an estrogen-fest," she said.
Jill 92.9/Jack 92.9 is owned by Rogers Communications, a partner of HalifaxToday.ca.
