For the first time, an ice festival is coming to Downtown Dartmouth and the organizers are calling on local artists to help out.
The Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission is looking for artists who would like to make ice sculptures for the event.
Executive director Tim Rissesco told NEWS 95.7 they already have one main artist secured, but are looking for more.
"We have a principal artist coming down who will do a number of the sculptures and we put a call out to other local artists who may want to try their hand at carving some ice," he said.
Rissesco anticipates there will be 10 to 15 ice sculptures on display at the festival, which will later be featured in planters on Portland Street and at King's Wharf Place for as long as the weather allows.
The festival will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 9.
