Halifax Regional Police are asking for the public's help to identify a suspect involved in an armed assault that took place overnight in the north end.

Around 10:20 Monday night, officers were called about a weapons assault that had happened at the Esso gas station at the corner of Young Street and Robie Street. An unknown man with an edged weapon approached, and attacked a man in his car while he was parked outside the gas station.

The suspect then fled in a vehicle which was later found nearby, but it had been abandoned. The victim was seriously injured, and was taken to the QE2 Health Sciences Centre for treatment.

The suspect is described as white, wearing a grey hoodie, long blue jean shorts, a blue baseball cap, white socks, black sneakers, and black gloves. HRP is asking anyone with more information about the attack to call police at 902-490-5020, or leave an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or by using the P3 Tips app.
