The military will be participating in helicopter firefighter training Thursday night in Herring Cove.
It's scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Naval Fleet School Atlantic’s Damage Control Division.
This training happens twice a year so Canadian Armed Forces members can be prepared to respond to fires onboard ships and aircraft when it's dark out.
"The flames from the helicopter trainer may be visible from land to members of the public who live or transit in the local area or from water to any vessels transiting along the coast," said the Department of National Defence in a news release.
"While these flames can be fairly large, the public can rest assured that they are fully under control, and that safety teams will be on-site monitoring all activities."
