As the humidex rises, the Halifax area is now under a heat warning, along with a large majority of the Maritimes.

As of 3:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday's forecast is calling for a high of 28, but it will feel like 36. Some relief can be found along the coast where the high will be closer to 20.

If you're planning a beach day, don't forget the sunscreen as the UV index is expected to be 8 or very high.

Environment Canada is expecting similar conditions up to and including Thursday.

"Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day," the weather agency recommends. "Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle."

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are likely to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
