Halifax Regional Police are on the lookout for a suspect believed to be responsible for two December robberies that happened less than an hour apart.

Police were called to the Money Direct on Young St. near Robie at around 4:40 p.m. on Dec. 17.

They say a suspect carrying a reusable shopping bag entered the payday loan business and tried to go into an employee-only section.

When he was approached by a staff member, he left the store on foot.

Police say officers were then called to an armed robbery at an Inglis St. gas station at 5:30 p.m.

They say a suspect with a handgun demanded, then ran off with money.

He's described as white, in his 40s, around 5'7", and between 220 and 280 pounds with a husky build.

He was wearing a grey 'Old Navy' sweatshirt, dark jeans and a dark balaclava.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
