Halifax native and Dallas Stars head coach Rick Bowness was pulled from his team's Sunday night game due to COVID protocols.

The Stars announced on Twitter that Bowness would not return to the bench for the third period of the game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Bowness has been fully vaccinated according to Stars GM Jim Nill, who said after the game the team believes the test result was a false positive.

At 66, Bowness is the league's oldest head coach.
