Halifax police deem June 29 incident a homicide

An assault earlier this week at an Esso Gas Station on Young Street locally is now being investigated as a homicide.

At approximately 10:20 p.m. on June 29, police were called to the gas station after a report of an assault.

Police say an unknown male approached the victim, who has been identified as 47-year-old Terrance Thomas Dixon of Halifax, and assaulted him with "an edged weapon."

In a release, police say "The unknown male then fled in a vehicle, which was later located abandoned within close proximity of the assault."

Dixon was taken to hospital where he died earlier today.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a grey hoodie, long blue jean shorts, blue baseball cap, white socks, black sneakers, and black gloves.
