An update on the annual business plan for the Halifax Convention Centre was scheduled to come to council on Tuesday.
According to that plan, the centre is running at a deficit.
Events East shows the centre's budgeted operating loss is at just over $4.1 million.
In an emailed statement, Events East said that figure is driven by building costs and property taxes which will be cost-shared equally by the province and the municipality.
"The estimate of building operating costs, which was developed based on an assessment of standard estimates for buildings, will be closely monitored and updated routinely throughout the year as operations normalize," the statement said.
The business plan will be presented to council on Tuesday.
