Numbers provided by regional police show in 2016 and 2017 there were 81 reports of graffiti in HRM which is about on par with last year.

Police said the number of incidents aren't up, but there locations have been more noticeable.

HRP Const. John MacLeod said the recent incident at Point Pleasant Park is unfortunate, and he's hoping the public can help catch whoever is responsible.

MacLeod said there are a number of steps to keep in mind if you notice any vandalism.

"If we can get the time, location and date when it was discovered, and if you can wait we'll have someone come out," said MacLeod. "We'll keep track of the graffiti, the different tags, so we can use that later for investigations."

Anyone with information on the vandalism at Point Pleasant or any other incidents, is asked to contact police or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
