There was a larger than expected jump in the price of gasoline overnight.

Regulated prices rose by 4.4 cents at midnight, moving the minimum price up to 118.7.

The news is much better for those needing diesel, as fuel prices dropped by half of a cent to 122.9.

At this time last year we were paying 1.12 for gasoline, 1.14 for diesel. Oil was selling at $61.30 U.S. per barrel, just over $2 more than Thursday's closing price of $58.76.
