Garbage collection cancelled Tuesday

Rain and wind warnings are now in effect for the Halifax area as a nor'easter makes its way to Nova Scotia

Curbside collection of garbage, organics, and recyclables in areas normally scheduled for pickup on Tuesday, Feb. 2, is cancelled due to the impending storm and high winds. 

For residents who would normally have collection on Tuesday, collection services have been rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 6.

Residents are asked to not place materials curbside for collection tomorrow. 

The Household Special Waste (HSW) depot at 20 Horseshoe Lake Drive is cancelled for Saturday, Feb. 6. More information on the HSW depot schedule can be found at 

The municipality would also like to advise the public and commercial solid waste haulers that the following facilities will be closed on Tuesday: 

  • The materials recycling facility at 20 Horseshoe Lake Dr.
  • The composting facilities at 80 Gloria McCluskey Ave. in Burnside and 61 Evergreen Place in Goodwood
  • The rural refuse depot located at 249 Sibley Rd in Middle Musquodoboit
