If you were stuck in traffic on near Dunbrack and Washmill Lake Wednesday morning, you can partially blame a piece of fitness equipment.

Halifax Regional Police say a blue exercise ball rolling down the road resulted in a four vehicle crash at around 7:30 a.m.

"The first vehicle came along, spotted the obstruction in the roadway and managed to stop to avoid it. Two more vehicles came along and also stopped. A fourth vehicle coming along in the same direction didn't stop, and struck the third vehicle causing a collision between all four," explained Cst. John MacLeod.

MacLeod said no one was hurt, but that fourth driver got a ticket for following too closely.

Police are encouraging drivers to pay close attention to the roadway and the vehicles ahead, behind and beside.

"It's unclear at this time where the ball came from, but if you are leaving stuff near the roadway, it would be good to make sure it doesn't go into the roadway," he said. "And certainly if you are travelling along with property in your vehicle, it's always good to make sure it's well secured."
