Crews are pulling a large dump truck out of Halifax Harbour Wednesday afternoon.

The operation is visible from Africville Road near where a man's body was recovered from the water earlier this week.

It is not yet known how the dump truck ended up in the harbour or if it's related to the fatality.

Halifax Regional Police were called to the area of Africville Road just before 10 a.m. Monday after getting a report of a body in the water below the MacKay Bridge.

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency helped recover the man's body, which has been handed over to the Medical Examiner Service.

He has not yet been identified.

Police say "due to the circumstances" they've handed the investigation over to the province's Department of Labour.

The labour department has told several media outlets they are investigating a workplace fatality at 6245 Africville Road and they have issued a stop-work order at Scotiascapes Landscaping Inc.
