SCHOOLS

All public schools in the province are closed Monday. Halifax Regional Centre for Education says its main office building (Spectacle Lake) has power and will be open.

Sandy Lake Academy is closed Monday.

Armbrae Academy will be closed Monday.

Dalhousie's campuses to be closed all day Monday.

University of King's College will be closed Monday.

Saint Mary's University will be closed Monday. Students living in residences will continue to receive services.

Mount Saint Vincent University will remain closed on Monday to allow for further clean up and service restoration on campus

NSCAD (all campuses) will be closed Monday.

All NSCC campuses will be closed Monday.

Atlantic Provinces Special Education Council will be closed Monday.

TRANSPORTATION

Halifax Transit is running and residents are being asked to consider taking the bus to "assist work crews with their clean-up efforts by reducing the number of vehicles on the roads."

BUSINESSES

Mic Mac Mall will remain closed the rest of the day.

Halifax Shopping Centre is open but says some retailers may have delayed openings.

South Park closed from north side Brenton Place to south side of Spring Garden, including sidewalks. Businesses will be closed

Irving Shipbuilding is adjusting hours on Monday due to the storm.

Halifax Shipyard will not have a day shift for Local 1 employees today, Monday, September 09, 2019. Second shift is planned to go ahead as scheduled.

Some businesses may still be closed due to damage or power outages.

SERVICES

There will be no mail delivery in Halifax Monday

Regularly scheduled collection of garbage, organics, and recycling has been postponed until next Monday for those who live on the peninsula. If Monday is your day and you don't live on the peninsula, collection will take place.

Woodlawn Public Library is closed due to a power outage.

Provincial government offices with power will be open today, Sept. 9.

Court operations will be made on a case-by-case basis. Check with your lawyer or call the courthouse to confirm whether the specific court is open.

As of 9:30 a.m., power is out at the Provincial Court in Dartmouth. Some court matters have been moved to Halifax and others are being processed via a popup courtroom in the lobby.  

ISANS is closed Monday. All programs and services are cancelled for the day.

Cutlass Fury: Due to the impact of Hurricane Dorian & subsequent clean up, the sail past and fly past scheduled for today are cancelled.

RECREATION

Provincial parks will remain closed until at least Wednesday. Updates will be provided on when individual parks will reopen as information becomes available.

HRM is asking residents to stay out of municipal parks until further notice.

Municipally owned and operated recreation facilities may be closed if they don't have power, call ahead.

Trails and protected areas across the province may have wash-outs and debris. Check conditions with organizations that manage trails before heading out.

Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site and Kejimkujik Seaside are closed until further notice, with an update expected at noon on Wednesday.
