A Halifax councillor wants to know if adding Wi-Fi to Halifax Transit would improve ridership.

Cole Harbour - Westphal councillor Lorelei Nicoll plans to request a staff report at Thursday's Transportation Standing Committee.

Nicoll told NEWS 95.7's The Rick Howe Show its an idea that has been discussed for years, but they haven't yet studied if it would be feasible.

"Council keeps talking about it being nice to have, but unless we know exactly what the dollar figures are, council can't make a proper decision to embrace Wi-Fi or not," she explained.

Nicoll also plans to ask for clarification on whether Wi-Fi would extend to ferry service.

Kings Transit in the Annapolis Valley already has Wi-Fi on its buses and Prince Edward Island's T3 Transit added it their bus system in Charlottetown, Stratford and Cornwall earlier this month.
