Community events to cause traffic delays in Lower Sackville this long weekend

The Frostbite 5-Miler race goes Sunday and the Sackville Snow Days winter festival parade is Monday

A couple of events are expected to cause traffic delays in the Lower Sackville area over the long weekend.

Sunday, Feb. 16

The Frostbite 5-Miler race is expected to draw several hundred walkers and runners.

The group will meet up just before noon on Feb. 16 on Kingfisher Way, near Sackville High School.

They'll take a left on Metropolitan Avenue, another left on Glendale Drive, then left on Chandler Drive, continuing on to where it turns into Caudle Park Crescent, then turns left on Nelson Drive and Cobequid Road, and up First Lake Drive to return to Metropolitan Avenue and finally Kingfisher Way.

RCMP will be in the area controlling traffic and the event is expected to wrap up by 2 p.m.

Monday, Feb. 17 

Sackville Snow Days winter festival will be hosting a parade Monday afternoon.

Participants will be meeting up in the parking lot of the Royal Canadian Legion on Sackville Cross Road.

At 1:45 p.m., they'll start heading north to make a right onto Sackville Drive, where the route goes east to the Rock Church at 222  Sackville Dr.

RCMP will be directing traffic in the area and the parade should be wrapping up at around 3 p.m.
