A bridge that connects Fall River Road to Highway 2 will need to be shut down again, this time for two weeks.
The same stretch was shut down for about 6 weeks two summers ago while crews replaced the bridge.
Halifax Water says Fletchers Run Bridge in Fall River will be closed from McPherson Road to the highway starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 29.
"We're extending water service into that community," explained spokesperson Jame Campbell.
Only local traffic will be allowed on Fall River Road between Lockview Road and McPherson Road during that time.
"During the closure access to Highway 2 will be via a signed detour using Fall River Road, Windsor Junction Road, Cobequid Road, Rocky Lake Drive and Waverley Road and the opposite for accessing Fall River Road," says Halifax Water in a news release.
Pedestrians will still be able to use the bridge during the closure, however traffic delays are expected in the area during the shut down.
"We understand there's some disruptions when this kind of construction goes on, but it's kind of short-term pain for long-term gain," said Campbell. "Once the water service is installed, it'll be a real benefit to the entire community it's going to hook up."
The utility expects to be able to reopen the bridge by 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12.
