An author with Nova Scotia roots is out with a new book all about hockey cards. And the foreword was written by someone who knows a thing or two about hockey: Cole Harbour's Sidney Crosby.

Ken Reid is Sportsnet Central's primetime edition co-host and is originally from Pictou County.

And he's released just a new book all about hockey cards called "Hockey Card Stories 2", a follow up to his best-seller.

Reid said the cards have a story to tell.

"How come somebody air-brushed Rick Vaive's hair? I get air-brushing a uniform, but why would you do hair? But they did that on his rookie card," explained Reid.

Reid said now that he's older he questions things about the cards, like why a uniform is painted on or why a certain player has a perm.

As for Sidney Crosby's contribution to the book, even the great ones make mistakes.

"He got fleeced for his Mario Lemieux rookie card," said Reid. "He made a really bad trade."
