The Halifax Mooseheads have named Antoine Morand the team captain for the 2018-19 season.
Morand became a Moosehead in June after being traded from Acadie-Bathurst just days after winning the 100th Memorial Cup Championship in Regina.
He currently leads the Herd in scoring and is an Anaheim Ducks second round draft pick.
The 19-year-old from Mercier, QC called the appointment an honour.
"I got chosen as captain but a ton of guys could have also been (named captain). For me and the others it doesn't change anything, the leaders are still going to lead and we'll just make sure that everybody is involved."
Samuel Asselin, Jared McIsaac, Joel Bishop and Benoit-Olivier Groulx have all been named alternates.
The Mooseheads home opener goes Saturday Oct. 27 against Cape Breton.
