Free rides on transit have ended.

As of Saturday, Aug. 1, fares are once again being collected on Halifax Transit buses and ferries, and all capacity restrictions have been lifted.

Passengers have been able to ride transit at no charge since March 18, when HRM suspended all fare collection due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those riding buses were asked to use the rear doors, however front door boarding has now resumed.

Expect bus drivers to be sitting behind a Polycarbonate shield.

All drivers and passengers are required to wear a non-medical mask, with the exception of children under two or those with a medical reason that prevents them from doing so.

Anyone not feeling well is asked to stay off buses and ferries.

If you have a transit pass for March or April, you can still use it until Aug. 31.
