The Halifax Hurricanes season is officially over.

This after the National Basketball League of Canada board of governors unanimously voted to cancel all remaining regular-season games and playoffs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The league's deputy commissioner, Audley Stephenson, says it was a difficult decision.

"Our owners, management, support staff, players and coaching staff invested countless hours in preparation for the season and its incredibly sad that we were unable to complete the year the way we would have liked to," he says.

Stephenson adds the health and safety of our players, officials, fans, staff and general public has to be the priority.

The Hurricanes say more information about credit and refund policies will be available by next Wednesday (April 8).
