Health officials in New Brunswick confirm 38th COVID-19-related death

FREDERICTON — New Brunswick health officials say a resident in their 90s of special-care home Pavillon Beau-Lieu in Grand Falls, N.B., has died of COVID-19.

The resident is the 38th person in the province to die of the disease since the start of the pandemic and Health Minister Dorothy Shephard has offered her condolences to the family.

Health officials are reporting 15 new cases of COVID-19 today in the province.

There are five new cases in the Fredericton region and the Edmundston and Saint John areas have three new cases each. The Bathurst area has two new cases and the Moncton and Campbellton regions each have one new case.

New Brunswick has 142 active reported cases of COVID-19 and six patients in hospital with the disease, including two in intensive care.

About 37 per cent of New Brunswickers 16 years of age and older have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
